A conversation with James Kennison, who is creating a podcast about funny life stories; Nobody’s Listening. We even get him to play an impromptu recap song!
James is a husband and father of two. He is a Children’s Pastor in-between pastorships and has been podcasting since 2006.
He says one of the secret reasons he likes being a Children’s Pastor is so that he doesn’t have to sit in “big church”!
James was first introduced to podcasting through a friend who had his own podcast. James found out what he could about podcasting and did his best to start off the right way and avoid the pitfalls of amateur podcasting.
James got the concept for Nobody’s Listening when he realized his brother was constantly calling him with a friend on the line so that James could confirm that some of their crazy stories were true. He decided it would save a lot of phone calls if they just started telling the stories on the podcast. This eventually lead to listener’s sending in their own stories as well, making it a place for people to share all their funny life stories.
Favorite episode so far: NLCast 210: Hot Doctor
James’ least favorite: “The JoJo the Clown Episode”
James learned that if you can’t do a good show, don’t do one. It’s better to skip a week than put out crap!
Fan favorites are often the ones from the early days of the show that helped form the podcast.
